Keep Hope Alive for Hanin and Her Family
United States
Salam, I’m Anaïs, a social work student from the United States and campaign organizer for several Palestinian families (Instagram @sendlovetopalestine). I met Haneen through mutual friends in Gaza and her campaign is verified. Please read on for more information about Hanin’s situation and how to support her during this time of extreme grief and suffering. Together, we can keep hope alive for Hanin and her family.
I am Hanin from Gaza, I am 31 years old. I suffered before the war in my treatment to have children. I tried for 7 years taking steroids and artificial insemination to have children. When God blessed me with two children, this war came and deprived me of my motherhood due to malnutrition. I lost my motherhood twice. I suffered a lot and cried many times, but the reality is harder than it could be. Now, my husband, my mother-in-law, and my husband’s sisters are suffering from the difficult situation and widespread famine. I have suffered from anemia several times due to malnutrition. Unfortunately, my husband is very poor, as all his money was consumed in this war. Here we are, suffering and struggling. We sit for long days without food or drink. We can barely stand on our feet. We have been displaced dozens of times without taking anything with us. I lived in the streets in the open for a long time due to the lack of money and the inability to buy a tent until an organization took pity. She gave us a tent to cover ourselves. Our situation is very difficult between fear, loss of hope, and a dream that I have always dreamed of achieving and seeing my children in my arms, but this dream is gone and will not return. All my wishes are for me and my family to survive this genocide and then try to travel for treatment and to achieve my dream, but now the most important thing is to secure our daily sustenance. I hope that all of you will stand by me and help me in our difficult days, in which the mind almost goes crazy because of the horror of what we are living. O people of merciful hearts, I beg you to help me and I will be grateful to you every day that you write for us to survive.
Salaam everyone, this is Anais, Hanin’s campaign organizer. I wanted to share an update from Hanin from a place of deep gratitude: After many days of extreme hunger, Hanin has been able to buy some food for herself and her family. Below you will see photos of the food from her most recent purchase. Recently, more goods have entered the market – though still at exorbitant prices – and she was able to enjoy more than just bread made of ground pasta, which she was sustaining herself on for a long time. We are extremely grateful for this small moment of respite from the pain of starvation.
Hanin is still suffering a lot, enduring long hot days in a battered tent that frequently floods, causing damage to her personal items. She lives close to the edge of the sea and there is no space to relocate as there are already hundreds of thousands of families packed into tight quarters. She often goes days without eating. We hope to continue raising money so Hanin can access food, clean water, and other essentials. I thank you sincerely for standing by her side. Hanin has suffered pain no human being should ever have to endure, and your generosity is a light in the darkness. THANK YOU, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! May God bless you and reward you for your generosity. You are the seed of hope for my dear friend Hanin.
